I am a freelance journalist who covers politics and higher education with an investigative focus. I’m an alum of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, from which I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature alongside a certificate in French. I’m moving to Utrecht, a city in the Netherlands, in June and am currently looking to write stories internationally, in France and in the Benelux region. My reporting interests include higher education, national politics, municipal government, housing and transportation.
I was the staff writer from June 2024 until May 2026 for the Madison-based alt monthly Isthmus, where I covered city government, higher education and statehouse politics. I previously was a Puffin Foundation news fellow at The Nation, where I covered LGBTQ+ news. In my undergraduate education I served as the 2023-24 campus news editor for The Daily Cardinal.
I was named the best collegiate journalist in Wisconsin by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association in 2023 and have received statewide honors in investigative reporting, public affairs reporting, features writing, breaking news and explanatory journalism.
Beyond work, I’m a competitive runner (I did two years of club track and cross country in college!) and also enjoy reading literary fiction, penning creative writing and brushing up on my French and Dutch. If you have any trail or book recommendations, I’d love to hear them.
